The Headwaters Responders are the volunteer emergency response division of the association. We maintain shared fire suppression and safety equipment in the community seacan, including a 500-gallon water bladder, pump, forestry hose, an AED, and first aid supplies. Every piece of gear represents member contributions and volunteer effort to keep the community prepared. We’re actively working on expanding the available equipment.
Our current focus is organizing the S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety course, a two-day training delivered using our own equipment and recognized by BC Wildfire Service. Completing this course would allow the association to apply for formal recognition as a Volunteer Fire Brigade, which opens access to equipment donations from other Fire Departments, provincial funding programs and grants currently out of reach for a self-funded society.
Volunteers needed!
The training is scheduled for the weekend of July 10-12. There is no cost to members.
The S-100 training is delivered over two full days: one day in the classroom (theory) and one day in the field (practical exercise). Both training days will be held at Headwaters Lakes.
The ICS-100 is incident command training and will be held Friday evening.
